What are the benefits of having the Center?

Welcome to the Center of Excellence for Global Trade & Supply Chain Management! You can learn more about the industry and explore career and educational opportunities here.

What are the benefits of having the Center?

The Center is the best way to know everything about the Trade industry. It exposes you to many different kinds of challenges that would initiate your growth career-wise. There is never a shortage here of professionals who would teach interested individuals of the ins and outs of trade and supply chain management. After you are done here, you’d be a more competitive part of the labor force.

What more is that the Center has the best facilities to host trainings and relevant activities to further any knowledge needed by the stakeholder. They maintain the schools to have the best possible equipment to cater to any type of learning. From the inside to the outside, it creates a conducive environment for everybody.

As a proof of this, almost every college and university affiliated to this have their own beautiful landscapes. Some even upgrade this by installing a sturdy garage door that is not only weather resistant, but provides insulation as well. Such was made to happen in partnership with the best garage door company in Tucson.

Programs implemented

One of the programs implemented by the center is the I-BEST Programs in Trade, Transportation, and Logistics

In the spring of 2004, the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges’ (SBCTC) Offices of Adult Basic Education and Workforce Education began a demonstration project at ten community colleges called Integrated Basic Education Skills Training (I-BEST). The I-BEST approach creates classroom teams of English as a second language (ESL)/adult basic education (ABE) instructors and professional-technical instructors, who co-teach an integrated course of language and vocational skills training at the same time.

The I-BEST approach includes having two instructors in the classroom at the same time. I-BEST also seeks to support students through advising, tutoring, and mentoring; and to eliminate some of the obstacles faced by its students, including childcare and transportation. I-BEST administrators stress that an essential component of the I-BEST approach is substantial and intentional planning before, during, and after the program.

A goal of the program is to ensure that I-BEST programs are a part of professional-technical programs that extend to at least one year of college training and result in a credential, as research has shown that those goals result in the most significant gains in the labor market. This helped a lot in the overall goals of the center.
